SST Data Availability Limited

Due to an  update to the servers at NOAA’s central processing division, sea surface temperature data will be intermittent. During these data gaps, please refer to the modeled sea surface temperatures. We appreciate your patience.

Contour maps of each port region are also hosted on the Great Lakes CoastWatch node and are in near-real time when the satellite passes over the Great Lakes (up to 18 images a day from different satellites).  Currently, the Great Lakes contour maps are using satellite surface temperature images that are derived from the AVHRR sensors on the satellites MetOp B/C and VIIRS sensors on the satellites NOAA20/NPP. The MetOP B/C over the Great Lakes region in the 01-03 AM and 02-05 PM time period. The NOAA20/NPP over the Great Lakes region in the 06-10AM and 05-08 PM time period.
